Third time lucky how I conquered WordPress

Third time lucky how I conquered WordPress

Introduction

As you are aware, WordPress is a content management system. It enables you to rapidly set up and manage websites without the need for technical expertise. Any kind of website, such as a portfolio, résumé, technical blog, e-commerce site, company website, social network, etc., may be made. You may also create an online store and incorporate a payment system into it.

Because the dashboard handles so many different jobs, it might be difficult to grasp. I made two efforts to install it but failed. The installation went smoothly the third time, and I lived to tell the story of how I beat WordPress.

Crucial Steps

Choose whether you want to install it locally on a computer or remotely on a server.

You should have a domain address if you're on a server (website name).

If so, you must set up a server like XAMPP on your computer.

Extract the compressed WordPress bundle into the server directory after downloading it from wordpress.org. For many server types, this directory is different. It will be discussed in the article.

your web browser to your website. A setup page will be shown. Fill in the blanks there.

Make a user for the MySql database. This user information is required on the setup page.

Here, the setup will be finished.

Go to the /wp-admin/folder to see the WordPress admin panel.

If you properly follow these instructions, you will succeed the first time in mastering WordPress.

A local machine is set up.

Let's configure our local computer. We first need Xampp. It is a collection of programs needed to operate a server. These programs include MariaDB, PHP, Perl, and Apache. We need these pieces of software to operate WordPress.

Visit this page to get xampp

Install it on your OS after it has been downloaded.

After installation, your filesystem will have a new directory named xampp. On Windows, it is located at C:xampp by default.

XAMPP directory structure

The figure shows that the xampp folder has a lot of folders. All of these folders are used to store various files or programs, including PHP, Perl, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin.

The most significant directory for us is htdocs. Everything listed here will be published on our website. Therefore, the contents of htdocs will be shown when we access our domain in a browser (localhost in this example). You now know where to place the WordPress files.

We must complete one more step before downloading WordPress. Our server isn't operating right now. You must launch xampp-control from the xampp directory in order to do so.

 The xampp-control process.

Following the execution of xampp-control, it will appear as in the picture below. Make sure Apache and MySQL are both active. Leave the panel exposed.

Adding a Database User

We must establish a database and a user for WordPress. WordPress and Xampp both make use of MariaDB (MySql). We may utilize phpmyadmin, which Xampp offers, for any database-related tasks.

Launch your browser and go to localhost/phpmyadmin. It will resemble this:

Home page for phpmyadmin

Toggle to the Databases tab. Here, we'll build a fresh database. Click the create button after entering the name of my wordpress site.

Using phpmyadmin to create a database

Your fresh database has been created. A new user must now be created and connected to our database. Thus, choose the Privileges tab.

Database privileges tab

You may add a user account using this tab's option. The picture up above also depicts it. Click it and provide the necessary information. Please do not use the password that I am using in my settings. Give this user permission as shown in the picture below.

I utilized these specifics:

 User name: WordPress admin

 host name. : Localhost

            Password :  admin password  .

Don't forget to tick the box next to "Grant all rights" on the database. Then choose the "Go" button located at the very bottom of the page.

Now that our database and users have been established, they are linked.

Configuring WordPress

Setting up WordPress is what we'll do next. We must first download it. The most recent version of WordPress is available here.

Go to your htdocs folder and purge it of all files. Around 10–12 files and folders will be present.

htdocs files by default

The WordPress gzip file's content should now be extracted into htdocs. It will appear as seen in the picture below. Use 7zip if you are having trouble extracting gzip files.

The htdocs folder contains wordpress files.

The.tar.gz file will first be extracted into an.atar file when you extract it. You must extract this.tar file once more. You will then see a single directory with the name "wordpress" displayed. You must transfer this directory's whole contents to the htdocs directory. Therefore, the wordpress directory will be empty and the contents of htdocs will be as seen in the above screenshot.

We are all set to setup the WordPress website.

Your browser will display the language selection box when you open localhost-

choice of language. WordPress setup

Select the language of the website, then click Continue. WordPress will then ask you to store the database information close at hand on another page. Press the "let's go" button.

The second page of the WordPress setup asks you to keep the database information nearby.

Complete the database information and press the "Let's go" button.

loaded with database information.

Following that, WordPress will attempt to contact the database. If it is successful, a new page will appear where you may provide a few details about your new website and your login information. These passwords are not database-related. It is used to log into the dashboard for WordPress. You will therefore consistently use this username and password. Keep them protected.

Putting in the login information for the website and setting up WordPress

To finish, just click on Install WordPress.

WordPress has been set up.

That is the setup I used for WordPress.

Getting to the WordPress Dashboard

You can see that WordPress has already provided us with the Log In button in the picture up above. You may click this button or go to http://localhost/wp-admin/to access it.

The WordPress login page

Please enter your information. They are for me-

Login as admin.

username: admin

password: P3Yv)ay4z@ZR&WR(uZ

When you click "Log In," you will see the dashboard.

The WordPress admin page

The admin dashboard appears here. You can add users, change themes, install plugins, and create posts, pages, and comments, among other things. This CMS is comprehensive.
