Spurs news dejounte murray reveals shocking details of illness
Due to an illness, Dejounte Murray missed the San Antonio Spurs' game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, and it doesn't seem like he will be playing again anytime soon.
Murray revealed his true health status and acknowledged that he "randomly became ill" on Twitter. The problem has been really significant as he has recently been "feeling dreadful" and has already dropped "7-8 pounds." He did promise that after he heals, he'd go back to work to be ready for the play-in, which raises the possibility that he won't be available for their last regular-season games.
The timing of the sickness could not have come at a worse moment for Dejounte Murray and the Spurs, as he expressed it. They have advanced to the 10th seed in the West and are now in the thick of an unbelievable run that has them competing for a play-in position.
After their critical victory against the New Orleans Pelicans last week, when many believed they were out of the picture, Murray even adamantly reaffirmed his intention to enter the play-in round. However, seven victories in their previous ten games have helped them advance.
The Spurs are in perfect control of their fate as they sit two games ahead of the 11th-seeded Los Angeles Lakers. Any defeat for the Purple and Gold would put them in an excellent position to make it, as two is the key number for them to formally cement their play-in berth.
San Antonio, however, has a difficult road ahead since their schedule is full of playoff opponents. They compete against the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and Minnesota Timberwolves, all of whom have crucial things at stake.
The Nuggets and Timberwolves are each trying for another win to increase their chances of immediately qualifying for the playoffs rather than having to go through the play-in round, while the Mavs and Warriors are competing for a higher seeding after already clinching their postseason positions. The fact that the Wolves are in the seventh slot but just one and a half games behind the Utah Jazz for the sixth seed gives them an extra incentive to win.
Simply put, if the Spurs can't find a way to defeat those formidable foes, they're in serious jeopardy. They did defeat the Blazers on Sunday because of a strong effort from Keldon Johnson, but the youngsters have to repeat it if they want to face tougher competition. To make it through the last few weeks of 2021–2022, members of the San Antonio team, including Tre Jones, Zach Collins, and Devin Vassell, will also need to step up.
How long Dejounte Murray will be sidelined is still unknown. There has not yet been an official statement from the team, who seem to be monitoring him on a daily basis, so it is still possible that he may return sooner rather than later. However, the Spurs had best be ready for the worst and anticipate that their star guard will be out until at least the play-in.
